Shown Above: Mattiaci Goldens out on the ranch

In 1987 I bought my first AKC Golden, and put a UD on her. I am a huge dog lover in general.

I am one of the top breeders of AKC Champion Goldens on the Western Region of the US, having produced 23 AKC golden champions under the Mattiaci prefix, group placing dogs, a top 20 dog, GRCA Show Dog Hall of Fame, GRCA Outstanding Dam, agility, obedience, titled dogs, 2 full time Service Dogs, TDI Therapy dogs, and need one more leg for my first hunt test dog’s JH. I volunteer at hunt tests, working certificate tests, and field trials each year.

I used to travel 60K miles a year going to dog events, but have cut back greatly. Today I go to Helena to train with kennel club members 1-3 times a week. I have enjoyed training dogs in AKC obedience, rally, conformation, agility, schutzhund, tracking, and weight pull over the years. I put two more Companion Dog titles on 2 other goldens, with a High Score In Trial tie with Mattiaci Double Diamond CD. My 2nd Companion Dog titled dog, Maraia Catch The Spirit CD finished 1/2 point away from a Dog World Award: dogs who finish with three consecutive scores of at least a 195/200.

I was a member of the Dog Obedience Training Club of Alaska in the 80's and 90's when living in Anchorage. In Montana I was Awarded Breeder of the Year when I was member of the Five Valley Kennel Club of Montana for years of volunteer work offering conformation handling classes in the 90's while attended the University of Montana in Missoula.

I have trained dogs in AKC obedience, conformation, agility, schutzhund, tracking, weight pull and has satisfied the requirements to apply to be an AKC conformation judge -- but competes only in conformation shows & obedience trials.

In February 2008, the American Kennel Club awarded me with it's "Special Silver Medallion" & in January of 2009 with it's "Special Gold Medallion" in recognition of my valuable contribution to the sport of purebred dogs. I was the recipient of the highest Award AKC gives, to breeders who have finished the minimum of 10 Champions from the Bred By Exhibitor class.

I was one of the top breeder of Kuvasz champions in the history of the breed. In 14 years I bred 26 AKC Champions under the Mattiaci prefix, Best In Show, #1 Kuvasz for multiple years, multiple Working Group winners, exported and imported the first to Sweden and the Netherlands.I breeder-owner handled the #1 kuvasz in the US for Best Of Breeds in 2002 with several working Group 1's & invitations from the Westminster Kennel Club on multiple dogs.

I have also been on NBC national news with my group winning kuvasz Ginny; Martha Stewart Living with her breeder-owner-handled #1 kuvasz Stratus; the CBS Early Show with Stratus; and featured on Animal Planet at the Houston Dog Show with Stratus.

I have 3 Cavaliers that I am currently showing now. I have finished one in each of the 4 colors. I have bred 3 AKC Champion Cavaliers, and one multiple Group Placer. December 2010 our Clive won Winners Dog from the Bred-By class 2 out of 3 days at the Eukanuba weekend of Long Beach, CA and later became an AKC multiple group placing male. under judges from England and Scotland.

I bought an AKC CH Pointer a couple of years ago that is now a Multiple Sporting Group Winner, top 20 dog each year, and has trained in NAVDHA bird dog training. I have produced AKC Sporting Group Placing golden retrievers, Chinese Champion, International Champion, Working Group Winning kuvasz, the #1 kuvasz, Swedish & Mexican Champion kuvasz, Mexican Best In Show, Crufts Winner 2007, a multiple AKC group placing Cavalier, and Westminster Kennel Club Invitees. I have also had dogs awarded in the AKC's Canine Good Citizen program.

I have handled show dogs in the US, Canada, and Sweden, show dogs to Group 1st wins in Canada: Sporting & Working; in the US: Working. Group Placements in Canada: Sporting, Hound, and Working and in the US: Sporting, Working, Toy, Terrier and Herding.

My passion is showing dogs in my breeding program to their AKC championships, getting obedience and low level hunting titles. I produce dogs that can be trained for Service dogs, therapy dogs and emotional support dogs. The temperament, health background, and the way we raise our dogs makes them versatile for many training options. We have sold dogs to 2 national service dog organizations as breeding stock for their programs to produce service animals including guide dogs for the blind. With just a couple of puppies in any litter going on to be shown, my puppy buyers enjoy beautiful, sound pet puppies that they can be proud of as a result of years of my hard work since starting in dogs in 1987, and my devotion to my dogs in the breeding program.

Our dogs go on an hour long, 2 mile run daily through the 50 acre hay field on our 207 acrea ranch down to the creek and watching them gallop freely, swim in the creek when they want, and romping through the snow in the winter. They also run 2 miles up to twice a day on the Sourdough Trail in Bozeman.

Boarding:

We do offer boarding for our buyers. Our puppies enjoy coming back home to the quiet, peaceful environment that they grew up in. They enjoy daily exercise of running and swimming with their relatives, and love. No being cooped up in a small concrete run or crate, or having to listen to a cacophony of barking, unhappy dogs. We offer boarding strictly for our established clientele.. Naturally, we provide grooming services for a variety needs.

Training: We occasionally sell puppies started on training. See our started puppies page.
